Whiteshire Hamroc enters joint venture with Chinese pork company

Indiana-based swine genetics company Whiteshire Hamroc LLC has announced a joint venture with Tangrenshen, an integrated pork company based in China's Hunan Province.

Under the joint venture, Whiteshire Hamroc will supply pigs to Tangrenshen, including Yorkshires, Landrace and Durocs.

Tangrenshen plans to introduce about 1,000 sows from Whiteshire Hamroc's nucleus herd into their system, becoming the base of an operation that produces 10 million market hogs per year.

Whiteshire Hamroc will also be involved in the monitoring and assessment of daily production activities while providing genetic analysis and mating recommendations to Tangrenshen through the internet system.

Tangrenshen had analysed breeding stock and production systems in China, Canada, EU and other areas in the US before deciding on Whiteshire Hamroc, a company it considers would be helpful in developing new and effective technologies for Chinese pork production.
