India's wheat procurement reaches 22 lakh tonnes

Wheat procurement in India that recently started rabi marketing season 2012-13, has touched the mark of 22 lakh tonnes.

Over 22,00,609 tonne wheat has been procured by the various government agencies up to April 12.

Madhya Pradesh has procured 19,38,754 tonne wheat followed by Haryana 1,68,147 tonnes. Rajasthan has also procured 51,487 tonnes of wheat while Gujarat procured 21,308 tonnes by the date. The procurement in Punjab, major wheat procuring state is expected to pick up after Vaisakhi.
