Carr's Milling considers opening factory in New Zealand
British livestock feed supplements manufacturer Carr's Milling Industries may consider setting up a factory in New Zealand after good sales of its molasses-based blocks.
The company's chief executive Chris Holmes said the group was encouraged by early sales of its Crystalyx feed blocks in New Zealand.
Its processed blocks - containing molasses from Florida and Cuba - have been promoted in New Zealand by Summit-Quinphos nutritional products manager Jackie Aveling, who said the blocks had been reformulated to balance the deficiencies in New Zealand pastoral systems.
The company has said the blocks activate protozoa in the rumen, stimulating intake and digestibility so that cows can process more food and eat more.
