EU salmon producers to lodge anti-subsidy case against Norway
The European Union Salmon Producers' Group (EUSPG) is prepared to lodge an anti-subsidy case against the Norwegian salmon industry.
The EUSPG along with the Scottish and Irish governments have submitted a strong statement on the absorption of minimum import price for Norwegian farmed salmon to the European Commissioner's trade department.
The EUSPG said it has fully prepared an anti-subsidy case against the Norwegian industry, which a source close to the organisation said has been receiving illegal subsidies from the Norwegian government.
The source said the subsidies include taxes, and also the way licenses are valued as collateral to raise capital for the Norwegian industry, something that Scottish and Irish companies aren't able to do.
The EUSPG is confident on the case due to the information it has on the Norwegian industry, said the source.
