Activists wants Monsanto's GM crops out of France
Greenpeace, together with members from two other French organisations occupied Monsanto's seed facility in Tebes, France on Thursday (April 13) to protest the introduction of GM seeds.
Over 75 activists have occupied the facility and were hunting for GM seeds. They have demanded that Monsanto and the French authorities stop import and distribution of these seeds into France.
Besides demanding that French authorities ban GM seeds, they also want Monsanto to reveal where the GM seeds are to be grown so as to protect other crops from genetic contamination.
Protestors plan to block a new GM law currently being considered in the French parliament which would allow large-scale planting GM corn.
The activists warned Monsanto and other biotech companies planning to introduce GM crops that they would continue to strive for a ban until France is declared a GM-free zone.
