Manitoba Pork Council plan to restructure board
In keeping with its declining active membership, the Manitoba Pork Council (MPC) plans to redraw its district map to bring three fewer directors to its board table.
MPC chairman Karl Kynoch said that due to the recent downsizing in the hog industry, both in the provincial hog herd and in the number of producers, hog farmers felt it appropriate to shrink the board as well, who farms at Baldur, about 100 kilometres southeast of Brandon, Canada.
Kynoch said that the restructuring is one of the steps in moving forward and trying to stay current with the times.
According to the program, which is billed as a presentation of MPC and SaskPork, hog producers voting at last week's MPC meeting passed a bylaw directing the MPC board to proceed with the structural changes, following recommendations from an independent committee after consultations with hog farmers.
