Romania's Transavia launches new chicken farm
A new chicken farm in Cristuru Secuiesc, Central Romania has been opened by Romanian poultry and egg producer Transavia.
"The new unit at Cristuru Secuiesc will produce 5,500 tonnes of poultry per year," Transavia director general Ioan Popa said in a statement on Tuesday (Apr 10).
Company representatives declined to reveal the value of the investment. The new farm has created more than 30 new jobs, the statement added.
Transavia produces 50,000 tonnes of meat and over 30 million eggs annually. It had a net profit of RON26.08 million (US$7.8 million) in 2010, according to data from the finance ministry's website.
