First American Farms looks for new slaughter plant

First American Farms which is based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is mulling over on many locations for a new kosher slaughter plant, according to the media.

The company is seeking 200-300 acres of land to build a ritual kill plant that would meet Jewish kosher and Muslim halal dietary rules to produce products for domestic distribution and export, First American Farms Chief Financial Officer, Thomas Lindholm, said. "Nothing has been finalised," Lindholm added. "We are very early in the process."

Sites, including one near Beresford, S.D., are under consideration, Lindholm said. He could not confirm how many people the plant might employ.
