China's corn, soy, edible oil imports drop in Q1
 
 

China's imports of corn, soy and edible oil all registered declines in volume amid rising prices in the first quarter of this year.

 

According to China's General Administration of Customs on Sunday (Apr 10), corn imports fell 29% on-year to 640,000 tonnes in Q1, while imported value rose 2.7% to US$271 million.

 

Soy imports were down 0.7% on-year to 10.96 million tonnes in Q1, but the value increased by 24.8% on-year to US$6.29 billion. The average imported price rose 25.7% on-year to US$573.9 a tonne.

 

The imports of edible oil were 1.35 million tonnes in Q1, down 8.7% on-year. Due to a price hike, the imported value was up 24% on-year to US$1.47 billion.
