Western Australia to sign dairy deal with Indonesia

The Western Australian government will sign an agreement with Indonesia, promoting dairy exports to the region.

The Memorandum of Understanding will see Western Australia's dairy industry help the Indonesian state of East Java increase its milk production. In return, the deal will promote trade opportunities for Western Australia's dairy products and live cow exports to the region.

Agriculture and Food Minister Terry Redman said there is a lot of opportunity for Western Australia's dairy industry in East Java.

"I feel very confident that we can come to a win-win situation, whereby there's potential for Western Australia to supply the gap between what the Indonesian farmers can produce domestically and what their supply needs are," he said.
