Market analysis

Prices of CBOT May soy futures moved within a narrow range over the past week, sliding 0.47%.

Feed millers were not eager to stockpile inventories with animal feed consumption slow and soymeal supplies set to be abundant with the US and south America projected to enjoy bumper harvests. Although crushing rates decreased lately, soymeal availability remained ample, exerting pressure on the market.

On average soymeal prices dipped 1% over the week.

Market forecast

March feed production has rebounded from February's annual low but remained low compared with past years' levels. With the recovery of livestock and feed market slow, the demand for soymeal is unlikely to be robust. This, in conjunction with plentiful soy availability, will weaken soymeal market considerably.
