Ukrainian farmers plant 2.1 million hectares early grain crops
A statement made by the Ministry mentioned that as of April 9, Ukrainian farmers have sown 2.1 million hectares of early grain crops for the 2012 harvest, or 43% of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food Supplies forecast of four million hectares.
Crimean farms have sown 64,900 hectares (77% of the forecast), in Odesa region they have sown 242,000 hectares (93%), in Khmelnytskyi region 132,500 hectares (83%), in Chernivtsi region 20,900 hectares (100%), in Volyn region 76,700 hectares (97%), and in Rivne region 70,600 hectares (91%).
Winter grain crops have been top-dressed on 6.1 million hectares or 103% of the forecast (5.9 million hectares).
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, agricultural producers had sown 1.7 million hectares of early grain crops by April 6 or 43% of the Agrarian Policy Ministry forecast.
