Kazakhstan to plant agricultural crops over 21.5 million hectares
In the current year, agrarians will plant agricultural crops in the areas of 21.5 million hectares, a rise of 1.3% compared with the last year's sowing areas, according to Asylzhan Mamytbekov, Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.
On April 9, Asylzhan Mamytbekov, Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, announced the updated information on the spring grain sowing campaign.
The spring sowing areas will total 18.8 million hectares.
Grain sowing areas will cover 16.2 million hectares, oilseed - 1.8 million hectares, or nearly the same as last year, the Minister added.
The Minister of Agriculture also noted that there is the tendency of growth of the areas of priority agricultural crops. At the expense of reduction of wheat sowing by 300,000 hectares, agrarians expect for growing of feed grain crops sowings. The areas of feed crops will increase by 10%. Cottonseed and sugar beets will be sowed throughout 146,000 hectares and 20,700 hectares, respectively.
