Canadian Grain Commission announces its 2011 report for non-food grade soy

The Canadian Grain Commission releases on its web site the 2011 quality report for non-food grade soy.

According to a release, researchers looked at oil content, protein content, fatty acid composition, and free fatty acid content as quality indicators.

"Based on the samples we analysed, the 2011 soy crop was of a good quality. Approximately 90% of the samples were graded as Number one or Number two," said Veronique Barthet, Programme Manager of Oilseeds for the Canadian Grain Commission's Grain Research Laboratory.

The Canadian Grain Commission is the federal agency responsible for establishing and maintaining Canada's grain quality standards. Its programmes result in shipments of grain that consistently meet contract specifications for quality, safety and quantity.
