Brazil's March pork export volume drops 11.6% on-year
Brazil's pork exports in March fell 11.6% lower against last year, at 44,299 tonnes, the Brazilian pork export association (Abipecs) said Friday (Apr 8).
In revenue, pork sales hit US$117.47 million last month, down from US$119.5 million in March 2010.
In the first quarter, exports rose 5.89% in revenue versus a year before, to US$311.07 million. In volume, January-to-March sales fell 5.82% to 118,169 tonnes.
Brazilian pork has lost ground on international markets due to the appreciation of the real against the US dollar, Abipecs President Pedro de Camargo Neto said.
