India's Suguna Poultry to introduce branded eggs
India's largest poultry integrator, Suguna Poultry Farm, is introducing designer eggs that it claimed would be suitable for people afflicted with diabetes and heart-disease.
Sumegga Pro, the company's branded egg, promises to be bacteria-free, rich in protein and high on calorific value said Ravindran, Suguna's general manager.
The company's latest range of designer eggs is a joint venture with Lohmann Tierzucht GmbH of Germany.
The designer eggs are produced through strict control of the layers' feed composition so as to produce high quality eggs, according to Ravindran. He added that the nutritive profile of the egg was gained entirely through enrichment in the diet and not through the use of drugs or any hormones.
Besides being graded according to weight, they will also carry a quality assurance certificate from the Namakkal Veterinary College, he added.
