China's Shandong live pig finds buyers in eight international markets

China's Shandong Qihe Fudi Livestock Co. Ltd received orders for more than 20,000 heads of live pig from eight countries including South Korea, Singapore and Russia, signifying the rising popularity of the company's pigs in the international market.

All of Fudi Livestock Co. Ltd's pigs can be traced to Holland's TOPIGS Co. Ltd. TOPIGS is a global pig breeder that sells almost 1 million gilts and boars to animal producers each year.

Fudi's annual production stands at 50,000 heads, with inventory of 30,000 heads.

The company's feed raw materials are supplied by Shanghai Da Guan Feed Company. Fudi adds the corn, soymeal, bonemeal and fishmeal in prescribed portions to the feed according to TOPIGS' specifications.

Fudi's pigs all undergo periodic checkups and vaccination from the company's in-house veterinarians.

General Manager of Fudi Huang Yeming said the all-grain prescription helps keep the fat content and the feed to meat conversion ratio low. The company also took strict measures to ensure that there are no antibiotics in the feed and the chemical residues in the pigs are within allowed limits. He added that the assured safety of the pig is what makes it so appealing to international buyers.
