China's frozen beef exports rises strongly in 2006
China's frozen beef exports rose strongly in 2006, with each month of the year marking an increase of at least 20 percent over that of the same month in 2005.
China's beef exports passed the 30,000-tonne mark for the first time last December and January 2007 saw a 61.6 percent increase on-year while February 2007 saw an even more remarkable 75 percent increase on-year.
China's frozen beef exports have been rising strongly for the past few years, with 2004 seeing a 75.8 percent increase while 2005 saw a more moderate 22.5 percent increase. 2006 saw an increase of about 50 percent.
Value of frozen beef exports for 2006 was US$64.1 million, compared to US$41.5 million in 2005.
