Schering-Plough nominated for aquaculture award
Schering-Plough has been shortlisted for an Aquaculture Today Fit for the Future award for innovation in aquaculture.
The nomination recognises Schering-Plough's achievements in developing vaccinations and treatments used in aquaculture that improved the quality of a fish's life and reduced disease outbreaks.
Prof Patrick Smith, Director of New Business Development/Feasibility at Schering-Plough said the company first developed fish vaccine in 1982 and its fish vaccine was the first to be licensed and enter commercial use in the UK.
Schering-Plough was also the first company to gain European - wide registration for a fish vaccine and also the only company so far to have a fully registered oral fish vaccine through this process.
Since then, the company has gone on to achieve a number of "firsts" in the field of fish health management.
