Four more Vietnamese provinces hit by FMD
A total of four Vietnamese provinces have been hit by foot-and-mouth disease, in addition to the nine areas affected in mid-March, according to local newspaper People on Monday (April 9).
Now, the disease is striking four communes in central Phu Yen province, four communities in central Binh Dinh province, two communities in central highlands Dac Lac province, and three communities in northern Son La province.
In March, the disease appeared in 25 communes in nine provinces, namely Lai Chau, and Phu Yen, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa, Quang Binh, Binh Dinh, Dac Lac, and Thua Thien Hue in the central region. According to Vietnam's animal health regulations, a locality is considered disease-free if it has detected no new outbreaks for at least 21 days.
