Russia's Rostov region reports H5N1 bird flu
The H5N1 strain of bird flu has been detected by Russia's Rostov regional veterinary laboratory in the blood of a migrant bird.
The bird was shot dead Tuesday near the village of Nikolaevsky in the Konstantinovsky district of the southern region, the regional government said Friday.
The regional government has imposed a 10-kilometre no-go area around the village and attempts are being made to prevent poultry from coming into contact with migrating birds.
