China '09 grain supply likely to exceed demand

China's grain supply in 2009 is likely to exceed demand due to the high level of stocks and weakening consumption, a senior grain official said Thursday (Apr 9).

An earlier drought hasn't had much impact on wheat output, which will likely be good this year, said Zeng Liying, deputy chief of the State Administration of Grain, in a conference held by the China National Grain and Oils Information Center.
