Exceldor to close poultry processing facility
Canadian poultry processing cooperative Exceldor has announced the closure of its Grenville processing plant on August 1, 2008.
The Grenville plant was acquired in March 2007, and Exceldor had announced to the plant's employees in June 2007 that it would consolidate its fresh poultry slaughter and processing operations in its other two facilities while exploring other avenues for their facility, according to a report by Grain News.
Exceldor announced in October 2007 a US$18 million investment to modernise its facility in St-Anselme.
Exceldor is a co-operative that specialises in the processing and marketing of fresh poultry, with a total slaughter capacity of about 1.4 million chickens per week.
