Shanghai Dajiang Resumes Poultry Exports To Japan
China's Shanghai Dajiang (Group) Stock Co Ltd said its subsidiary Shanghai Dajiang Meat Processing Plant No.2 is one of the 35 domestic companies allowed to resume exports of hot processed poultry meat to Japan.
Dajiang said Japan lifted the ban on imports of cooked poultry meat from China on Wednesday, but did not say when it will resume exports.
Hot processed poultry meat represents 70 pct of Dajiang's total exports, of which 90 pct is exported to Japan.
Dajiang said it exports 30 pct of its processed chicken meat, without providing exact figures on total production.
On January 27, Japan banned poultry imports from China following the confirmation of bird flu cases in the mainland.
On March 16, China's Ministry of Agriculture announced the end of isolation measures in the final two bird flu-hit areas in the country, putting an end to the 49-day campaign to stamp out the deadly H5N1 strain of avian flu.
Last year, China exported cooked poultry meat worth USD510 million, of which USD426 was shipped to Japan.
