Smithfield meat packing plant acquired by Stine Properties

A meat packing facility, formerly owned by Smithfield Foods, Inc, has been acquired by Stine Properties III LLC.
Stine Properties bought the plant for US$337,500.
Smithfield Foods closed the plant in 2009. Back then, it was the largest employer in Plant City, Florida, US.
The meat packing facility was opened in 1976 by Florida corporation, Lykes Bros. Smithfield bought the plant from Lykes in 1996. The plant was one of the largest hot dog producers in the US.
Plans for the 170,000 square feet facility are yet to be disclosed.
