Pakistani wheat production might surpass 25 million tonnes
Pakistani wheat production is likely to surpass the target of 25 million tonnes this season, bettering last year's production of 23.7 million tones.
If the crop condition is taken into account and the farmers are to be believed, Punjab on its own would probably be able to contribute 20 million tonnes.
However, according to the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco), which monitors crops through satellite imagery, wheat output would be about 24.5 million tonnes. According to Suparco's approximations, Punjab will have an output of 18.7 million tonnes, Sindh 3.9 million tonnes, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1.3 million tonnes and Balochistan 0.6 million tonnes.
If all goes according to expectations, the country could have three million tonnes of extra wheat.
