India 2008-09 oilmeal exports marginally lower on-year
India's oilmeal exports fell slightly in the fiscal year ended March 31 as the global economic slowdown reduced demand from poultry and meat producers in the last quarter, the Solvent Extractors' Association of India said Tuesday (Apr 8).
Asia's biggest oilmeal exporter shipped out 5.42 million tonnes in 2008-09 compared with 5.44 million tonnes in 2007-08.
The fall in exports came despite a 7-percent rise in mainstay soymeal exports to 4.17 million tonnes as exports of other oilmeals, such as rapeseed meal and peanut meal, fell.
