Canada launches programme to boost agricultural exports
The Canadian government has launched a new programme to help boost agricultural exports.
Opportunities in international markets have to be created to have a competitive farm gate in Canada, said Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz.
By supporting Canadian exporters, the government is increasing opportunities for all in the value chain from farm gate to fork, Ritz said.
The Trade and Market Development programme will ensure exporters have the information and support they need to sell more products in more markets. It includes initiatives that will strive to bring industry success in domestic and world markets. The programme will also help equip the industry to seize market opportunities and address emerging challenges.
A key component of the programme is the AgriMarketing programme that will sell and promote more of Canada's safe and high quality products worldwide.
