Thailand looks forward to bird flu-free status
After no new cases were found in the last two areas of the country where poultry have died from bird flu, the Thai government is prepared to declare the country free from bird flu.
The livestock department and health ministry are still wary and would constantly monitor for new outbreaks in chickens or humans. The screening system in place at the borders with Cambodia and Vietnam will still remain under surveillance.
The success of the government's effort in containing the disease is due to farmers abiding to the strict regulations that were passed. Thai poultry exports look set to go up.
