India March soymeal exports down by 63 percent
India's soymeal exports in March declined by 63 percent on year to 222,876 tonnes due to low availability of soy stocks in the market, the Soybean Processors Association of India said Monday (April 6).
Farmers held back stocks as domestic prices were quite low in comparison with year-ago prices.
During the first six months of the current marketing year that began in October, the country exported 2.58 million tonnes of soymeal, down from 3.22 million tonnes in the year-ago period, the trade body said.
Another trade body, the Solvent Extractors' Association, will be releasing oilmeal export data for March soon.
