India's Kerala state puts up poultry tax barrier

 

 

Poultry shipments in India's Tamil Nadu state bound for Kerala are being subjected to Kerala's 12.5 percent value added tax which effectively stops traders in Kerala importing birds from Tamil Nadu.

 

As a result, stocks in Tamil Nadu have been accumulating, placing a strain on the state's poultry industry.
