Malaysia's School Milk Programme put on hold

The School Milk Programme in Malaysia is put off until the Hazard Critical Control Point (HACCP) conditions are adhered to by the sole manufacturer.

Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr. Wee Ka Siong said a committee set by the Education Ministry and the Health Ministry had set the requirement to prevent a recurrence of milk poisoning cases in schools.

He said the Health Ministry conducted three milk processing auditing at the manufacturer's factory.

"As they have not upgraded and improved their work processes to meet HACCP certification, we have decided to put off the milk for school programme," he said.

Besides milk processing, Wee said the government placed importance on milk distribution to schools, including its transportation and storage after delivery.
