Vietnam eyes corn venture in Indonesia's West Kalimantan

Vietnam plans to invest in the agricultural sector, especially corn, in Indonesia's Kubu Raya regency.

Vietnamese enterprises hope to start investing this year, according to head of the West Kalimantan capital investment coordinating board, M Zeet Hamdy Assovie.

Investors from South Korea, Japan, and China were also interested in food crop investment in West Kalimantan given the vast plots of fertile land in the area, Assovie said.

Vietnam, he added, ranks ninth of the 10 countries with an investing interest in Indonesia.

The board is preparing a one-door integrated regional service, which is currently being introduced to Singkawang city, Bengkayang and Sambas regencies, according to Assovie.

The national investment coordinating agency (BKPM) has projected 70 one-door integrated service centres countrywide this year.
