EU to ban food from cloned animals
Members of the European Parliament have agreed to ban the introduction of food produced from cloned animals.
The decision was made despite that the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) saying in a report that the consumption of meat or dairy products from cloned animals does not harm public health. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have also said the same.
However, cloning has led to debates on ethics and animal welfare, as often cloned animals appear to have health problem or die prematurely.
