Cargill buys four beef companies

Cargill Meat Solutions is buying four beef operations and consolidating them under the name: Beef Packers Inc.

The four meat companies, all California-based, were Beef Packers Inc, Fresno Meat Co, RPM Beef Inc, and King-O-Meat Inc.

Derek Kennedy, who had been lead controller for Cargill Meat Solutions, has been named transition leader.

Beef Packers Inc would help Cargill further enhance its presence on the West Coast to serve customers and cattle producers, according to a news release.

Kennedy said Beef Packers Inc would maintain a strong presence in the regional livestock auctions while continuing to work with producers to provide the best possible prices for their livestock.
