JBS subsidiary to acquire XL Foods' US operations

Brazilian food processing company, JBS S.A, has announced that JBS USA, a wholly owned subsidiary, will be completing acquisitions of specific US operations of XL Foods, effective from April 8, 2013.
Upon closure, JBS USA will assume ownership of XL Foods' properties in the US which include a beef packing plant, in Omaha, Nebraska, which is able to process 1,100 head of cattle daily. Also part of the acquisition is a beef packing plant in Nampa, Idaho, which has the capacity to process 1,100 head of cattle per day.
The beef processing plant in Nampa is currently idle. However, JBS has no immediate plans to reopen the facility yet.
JBS will not assume any of XL Foods' debt or liabilities under any circumstances.
