Lerøy CEO lands Marine Harvest post

The Board of Directors of Marine Harvest ASA has appointed Alf-Helge Aarskog as the new CEO of Marine Harvest ASA.

Currently, Aarskog is CEO of Lerøy Seafood Group ASA. He served as executive VP of Lerøy Seafood Group, managing director of Lerøy Midnor AS and head of production for Fjord Seafood ASA, which merged with Marine Harvest in 2007.

Aarskog will take up his new post no later than October 1. Currently, Thomas Farstad, director of operations in Canada and Scotland, is serving as acting CEO.

In addition, he holds an MSC in Aquaculture from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB), and has supplementary management education from Harvard Business School.

This appointment comes less than a week after ousting Ã…se Aulie Michelet, who stepped down as CEO effective March 23, 2010.
