Beef shortage persists amid end of Argentine farmers' strike
Argentine farmers suspended their three-week old strike that involved road blockages causing beef and produce shortages across the country.
Cattle trucks returned to the Liniers stockyard in Buenos Aires, but food shortages persist.
The stockyard received about 1,000 cattle yesterday and expects more than 10,000 head today.
Many butchers, however, reported freezers still empty of beef as they waited for meatpacking plants to resume production across Argentina.
During the three-week strike, the Argentine government has reportedly stopped exports of beef and ordered its abattoir inspectors to make sure that all beef produced and in stock is sent to the domestic market.
