USDA: New legislations for Norway's animal welfare act
As a country with a long tradition of animal protection regulations, the agriculture ministry of Norway has prepared another strategic plan to increase awareness of the public regarding animal welfare. An extension of the 2002 white paper called "The Norwegian Action Plan on Animal Welfare", this new document expands a thorough review of animal care in Norway and includes proposals for long-term goals and actions of the country's animal industry, particularly livestock.
The US Department of Agriculture has documented its legislations through the report entitled "Norway Livestock and Products Animal Welfare Legislation 2007". The paper highlights specific regulations for fish, poultry, swine and cattle as well as general animal welfare regulations, including animal health, slaughtering and transport.
