Nam Viet targets US$100 million in catfish exports from Russia

The Nam Viet Seafood Import Export Joint Stock Co. in Vietnam's Mekong delta province of An Giang aims to export US$100 million worth of tra and basa catfish to Russia in the implementation of a memorandum of understanding recently signed between two parties.

The memorandum was sealed during a visit by Russia's General Consul Nikolai Demitrievich Ubushiev and former Deputy Fisheries Minister Sotnikov Fedor Ivanovik to the company in mid-March. The Russian representatives also visited Nam Viet's factory which processes 700 tonnes of tra and basa catfish per day.

Last year, Nam Viet exported US$170 million worth of tra and basa catfish where 70 percent of its products went to Russia and the European Union.
