China's Guangdong Huanong Wen Group to build 600,000-hog per year farm

China's Guangdong Huanong Wen Livestock Company Ltd had concluded an agreement with Lianzhou city government to establish a 600,000-hog per year farming base. Lianzhou city is located in Qingyuan prefecture, Guangdong province.

Costing some RMB300 in initial investment, the entire hog farming base is scheduled for completion within three to five years. Upon completion, the project is seen to give a further boost to the rural economy of Qingyuan prefecture through the company's contract farming arrangement with rural households.

This agreement is not the first for both parties. In Sep 2001, Wen Group had also penned an agreement with the prefectural government to set up hog farming and pork processing enterprises there. Currently, the company has four subsidiaries located in Yingde, Qingxin, Fogang and Yangshan districts with a total capacity of one million heads of hogs per year.
