Ukraine exports 15 million tonnes grain in marketing year July-March

Since the beginning of the current marketing year July 1, 2011 to March 22, 2012, Ukraine exported 15.4 million tonnes of grain, including 3.8 million tonnes of wheat, 2.1 million tonnes of barley, and 9.3 million tonnes of corn, the agriculture ministry reported Monday (Apr 2).

Ukraine's grain exports in March totalled 2.41 million tonnes.

The agriculture ministry said Ukraine could export another 10 million tonnes of grain before the end of the current marketing year June 30, but the country would have to export grain at the rate of three million tonnes a month.

The ministry's original estimate of the current season's grain exports was 25.4-26 million tonnes, but lately it's lowered its export estimate to 20-21 million tonnes.
