Kazakhstan's Aktau grain terminal ships 307,000 tonnes grains
In 2011, the grain terminal in Kazakhstan's port of Aktau shipped 307,000 tonnes of grains.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the investment project of JSC "Food Contract Corporation" in the port of Aktau - "Ak Biday-Terminal" (the grain terminal) - has the simultaneously storing capacities at the level of 22,500 tonnes of grains.
During the period from 2005 to 2011, the shipment volumes totalled two million tonnes of grains.
The geography of Kazakh grain exports through the terminal in the port of Aktau is very extensive. Only in 2011 the terminal shipped grains of 20 companies towards 8 countries - Iran, Turkey, Greece, Albania, Cyprus, Italy, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
The main direction of grain exports through the port of Aktau is Iran - the major buyer of Kazakh grains. The terminal of Aktau allows to Kazakh exporters to sell their grain volumes directly to the country-consumer, bypassing transit points, which is much more efficient, and ensures stable distribution of Kazakh grains at competitive prices.
In 2012, the terminal continues operating with full loads, and under favourable weather conditions and the absence of other negative factors will form the volume of 600,000-700,000 tonnes per year.
