Brazil's 2006/07 soy estimate put at 58.6 million tonnes

Brazil should harvest 58.6 million tonnes of soybeans in the 2006/07 crop, local agribusiness consultancy Celeres said Monday (Apr 2).

The number is one percent higher than the firm's last estimate, released in early March.

Good weather conditions in Brazil's prime soy producing states, mainly Parana and Mato Grosso do Sul, has led to higher output estimates in the April report.

Yield averages were put at 2,815 kilogrammes per hectare, up 13.4 percent from the 2005/06 season.

Brazil is the world's no. 2 soy producer behind the US.
