Wisconsin and Minnesota least affected by declining US milk output

While US milk production has generally dropped in February, the states of Wisconsin and Minnesota have fare better in coping with the decline.

Wisconsin dairy farmers harvested 2.2 billion pounds in February, essentially unchanged from February 2012. Minnesota produced 728 million pounds, a 1% dip.

The production decreases were more pronounced in the other dairy-producing states, ranging from a 2% decrease in New York and Pennsylvania to an 8% drop in California. Michigan's production rose by only 1%.

US milk production has fell 3% to 14.6 billion pounds, according to the USDA.
