Kazakhstan agrarians plant 75.9 thousand hectares of crops in southern oblasts
Agrarians in Kazakhstan have planted 75.9 thousand hectares of crops in four southern oblasts of the country during the spring planting campaign, said Muslim Umiryaev, Vice-Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to Umiryaev, agrarians have planted spring grain crops throughout areas of 46.4 thousand hectares, oilseeds at five thousand hectares, vegetables at 5.7 thousand hectares, and perennial grasses at 18.8 thousand hectares.
Generally, Kazakhstan will plant agricultural crops at more than 18 million hectares.
Grain crops will occupy 15.9 million hectares including wheat at 13 million hectares.
The Vice-Minister noted that Kazakhstan will reduce the planted areas of rice, cottonseed, sugar beets, melons and potatoes. In turn, the areas under fodder, forage, and oilseed crops will be expanded.
