China's farm produce imports, exports rise to US$25.24 billion
In January to February 2012, the value of farm produce imports and exports of China amounted to US$25.24 billion, a jump of 17.2% against the previous year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
The export value amounted to US$9.23 billion in the January to February period, up 7.5% on-year, and the import value climbed 23.6% on-year to US$16.01 billion.
The farm produce trade deficit reached US$6.78 billion in that period, expanding 55.2% from a year earlier.
Farm produce mainly includes grain, cotton, sugar, oilseeds, distillers dried grains with soluble (DDGs), vegetables, fruits, livestock products and aquatic products.
