James & Son launches range of balanced rations

James & Son, a co-product feed supplier in the UK, has launched the Graze Max range of highly balanced blends.

The products have been developed to meet the nutritional requirements of the cow yet can cut feed costs by about 30 percent, said Dr Sion Richards, national nutritionist for James & Son.

The three blends included in the range are relatively low in protein to balance high proteins in grass but have high starch content to promote rumen bacteria activity, said Richards.

The formulation encourages the bacteria to retain more protein and sugar from grass increasing grazing efficiency while providing enough fiber to help maintain butterfat at grass, Richards added.

The blends are a moist, dry and nutty mix and all include Loch Lomond Gold, a liquid concentrate high in starch, energy and protein.

The three rations also have FP Cereal, a 70 percent starch and sugar product that is a blend of cooked breakfast cereal and boiled sweets.
