Intracare highlights trend of reducing antibiotic use

At the VIV Europe Meet the Press program held in the Netherlands during February 2014, Intracare highlighted the trend aimed at reducing antibiotic use on the farm.
Intracare's approach to reducing the use of antibiotics that will be presented proper at VIV Europe 2014 involves a new spray formula for tissue protection and wound care, in which chelated minerals are given an organic coating and micronised to nano-particles.
The aerosol Repiderma is a spray version of Intracare's antibiotic-free Hoof-fit Gel, which has been shown to be 1.57 times more effective than the antibiotic CTC spray in tests carried out by the dutch animal health centre. It is the world's first antibiotic-free product for digital dermatitis.
The product has been awarded the status of an official veterinary medicine in the Netherlands and fits with calls to reduce antibiotic use in farm animals.
Repiderma contains chelated minerals which, unlike traditional minerals, can be absorbed easily by the skin. Thus it is not only active on the skin surface, but also beneath it.
The absorption process is intensified because the chelated minerals are micronised which means the particles penetrate quickly and deeply into the skin.
Repiderma also contains adhesive substances, ensuring a long contact time with the skin after its application.
The product can be used on dairy cattle, sheep and pigs and can be used in every situation where infections have to be prevented and where there are weak spots in the epidermis or the skin.
