Russia sees 29.6% drop in grain stocks during March 2013
 

 

Russia's grain stocks have declined 29.6% as of early March 2013, according to the country's State Statistics Agency.

 

In early March 2013, Russian farming, procuring and processing entities held 20.4 million tonnes of grain, down 8.6 million tonnes over-year.

 

Compared with March 1, 2012, farmer grain stocks fell by 4.5 million tonnes (30.3%). Grain stocks at procuring and processing entities dropped by 4.1 million tonnes (28.9%).

 

Procuring and processing companies have seen drops of 28.9% and 6.3% in grain as of early March, compared to a year ago and February 1, 2013, respectively.

 

The bulk of the stocks were represented by wheat, which fell by 37.8% from 2012.

 

Barley stocks also fell by 12.8% while corn rose by 24%.
